Employees of Safonovsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division held a series of lessons on promoting energy saving in the home in schools of the town of Safonovo. During February and March 6 lessons were conducted in secondary school № 9 and two lessons in school № 4. Also in late March personnel of Safonovsky Distribution Zone and teachers of primary school held classes on energy conservation for 157 schoolchildren of school №8. And in April these classes passed in school № 2, № 4 and № 6, which were attended by about 200 pupils.
During the lessons more than 500 young residents of Safonovsky district learned the basic principles and methods of rational energy consumption and measures that each of them can take to save energy in their home or school. The power engineers told the children how to save resources and money in a standard apartment. In illustrative examples they demonstrated existing types and kinds of lights, the children were explained what appliances better to choose and how to operate with minimal power consumption. The schoolchildren learned how electricity and heat is generated, why they need to take care of the earth’s resources. The classes were held in the form of conversation, during which the schoolchildren were asked questions to which they actively and with interest replied.
Part of the lessons was held according the scenario game developed by IDGC of Centre "Team of energy defenders", in which the children read themed poems, solved riddles and puzzles. As a visual aid the schoolchildren were given colourful books on energy saving produced by the company.
"The main task of energy saving lessons that we hold is to attract attention of the younger generation - future consumers of resources - to the rational use of energy resources, the formation of culture of energy saving, energy conservation basics in life," explained chief engineer of Safonovsky Distribution Zone Maxim Pavlov. "Smolenskenergo has an interest that residents of the Smolensk region, companies and organizations operating in the region to be literate consumers, to be able to accurately plan their power consumption, to know principles and methods of energy saving and implement them in practice."
For the held series of lessons school №9 of the town of Safonovo sent a letter of thanks to the chief of Safonovsky Distribution Zone Valery Borovikov. Teachers thanked the power engineers for organizing six thematic sessions at their school and an interesting flow of material, which the children loved. Similar letters also come from administrations of schools №2 and №6.
