Employees of "Voronezhenergo" took part in the All-Russian action devoted to Cosmonautics Day

13.04.2016

Employees of the Voronezh branch of IDGC of Centre on 12 April took part in the All-Russian campaign "Lift your head up", organized by the corporation "Roscosmos" to the 55th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s flight. In Voronezh the venue was Soviet Square, where students, schoolchildren, activists of youth organizations gathered, including members of the youth council and the trade union of "Voronezhenergo".

On the square an interactive installation "I Love Space" was installed: a spacecraft layout with a red button and counter. Anyone could click on it to express their attitude to the holiday. Then, the counter indications will be compared with other regions, in order to determine where there is majority of people who love space. The culmination of the event was the launch of balloons with Gagarin’s portrait and the inscription: "Lift your head up" into the sky at exactly 02:00 p.m. (as in all cities participating in the action). Many participants wrote their wishes on them as well. It is worth noting that at the time of the balloon launch the spacecraft counter had the number 5,927 – although the organizers expected that two times fewer people would take part in it.

"There is no coincidence that residents of Voronezh showed such activity, because our city made a significant contribution to space exploration. It was in Voronezh where the third stage engine for the booster rocket "Vostok" was created, which delivered Yuri Gagarin into orbit. Voronezhenergo’s team is also actively involved in such activities, because this historic flight is something to be proud for the whole country and a significant event for the whole world. It is impossible to forget for the modern youth where cosmonaut number one comes from," shared his impressions the head of social relations of "Voronezhenergo" Vladislav Lisochenko.
