Kostroma power engineers of IDGC of Centre hold energy efficiency lessons

01.04.2016

Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division plan to hold at least one hundred energy efficiency lessons by the end of 2016 in schools of Kostroma and the Kostroma region. Specially developed information materials for all ages are used for the classes.

Three unusual master "Energy saving classes" took place at the end of the third quarter in high school №33 of the city of Kostroma for 67 pupils of primary, secondary, high school and their teachers. They were held by an engineer for power saving and energy efficiency of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division Andrey Smirnov.

The pupils were explained how important it is today to engage in energy-saving and with simple examples were demonstrated how easy it is to save energy at home. During the lesson each student was given the opportunity to feel like a bit of a power engineer and to speculate on the topic of energy efficiency measures. The children’s ideas were interesting and original. During the lessons for primary schoolchildren the specialists of Kostromaenergo paid special attention to the form of teaching complicated information to the children. For younger schoolchildren the lesson was held as a fascinating journey through the magical land of Energy Saving, with older guys in the dialogue was based on knowledge of the laws of physics and the foundations of the economy. At the end of the lesson a survey of the schoolchildren was conducted on knowledge of the rules of energy saving in the home.

During the lessons the experts of Kostromaenergo gave the schoolchildren plenty of practical tips. For example, do not leave home appliances in standby mode – unplug the devices from the wall outlet or use the mute button on the very appliance. Turning off unused devices from the grid allows to save an average of 200 – 300 kWh of electricity per year. In addition, the children learned that plugged chargers of mobile phones, cameras consume power even when not in use.

"Energy saving lessons help shape the children’ personal interest in the economy and, consequently, in the solution of actual energy saving problems," stressed Lydia Bobkova, deputy director on educational work of municipal budgetary general education institution "Gymnasium №33" of the city of Kostroma.

Energy efficiency work is carried out in the Kostroma branch of IDGC of Centre in different directions. In February, in conjunction with the magazine "Telesem" (supplement of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda") the contest "What do you know about energy saving?" has been launched, answers to the questions were sent by 14 children of various ages from the city of Kostroma, Kostromsky, Krasnoselsky and Ostrovsky districts. At the end of the contest winners will be awarded memorable prizes from Kostromaenergo.
