Lipetsk power engineers are involved in the revival of an Orthodox shrine

25.03.2016

For power supply of a chapel, being built in the village of Shovskoye in Lebedyansky District of the Lipetsk Region, power engineers of IDGC of Centre – Lipetskenergo division will construct a section of a 0.4 kV power line.

The chapel is being built on the site of a monastic cell-hut of St. Silouan, the 150th anniversary of whose birth will be celebrated in September of this year. At the same time restoration of the house is being carried out where the outstanding Russian ascetic was born and restoration of the Temple of the Nativity, where he was baptized. In addition, it is planned to erect a monument in Shovskoye to Reverend Silouan.

Implementation of the planned activities will allow to include the village of Shovskoye in the tourist route of the future tourist-recreational zone in Lebedyansky district. Its project is currently under development.

The revival of Orthodox shrines is timed to coincide another jubilee - the 1000th anniversary of the presence of Russian monasticism on Mount Athos. To mark this date in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Athens, and St. Panteleimon Monastery on Mount Athos an international scientific conference will be hosted dedicated to the Russian contribution to the legacy of Athos.
