Fruitful cooperation of the branch of IDGC of Centre "Smolenskenergo" with the branch of "National Research University "MPEI" in Smolensk has been going on for many years, because the Institute is one of the basic institutions for the training of specialists not only for the Smolensk branch, but also for IDGC of Centre as a whole.
Being interested in managers and specialists with a high level of training, IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division cooperates with the Institute for training, retraining and advanced training of personnel, invites students to practice, conducts systematic work on attracting the most deserving, talented and motivated graduates of the university to the ranks of employees of the company, adds its own personnel reserve with graduates.
As a result of co-operation in 2015 it can be noted that in Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "NRU "MPEI" in the city of Smolensk 92 managers and specialists and 6 workers improved their skills in various programs. Ten employees from managers and specialists acquired new skills, two enrolled in the correspondence department on the program "Electricity Supply".
IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division constantly organizes industrial practice for students of the higher educational institution, during which future power engineers are introduced to the main activities of Smolenskenergo, development prospects, social security, power equipment, labour protection rules. Such practices are usually held on the basis of various Distribution Zones, as well as in offices of grid connections, distribution networks, information technology and other structural subdivisions of the branch. Leading experts and heads of relevant departments are appointed heads of industrial and pre-diploma practice. In 2015, 152 full-time students underwent various kinds of production practices in Smolenskenergo. Tours, open doors days, thematic roundtables and career guidance seminars were also conducted for future power engineers during the year.
In 2015, 52 university graduates were accepted for permanent employment in various subdivisions of the branch. Currently, 17 full-time students receive a corporate scholarship and after graduation will come to work to the grid company.
For years the branch has held meetings of the energy company’s management, representatives of the branch of the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher professional education "National Research University "MPEI" in Smolensk ("NRU MPEI" in Smolensk) and prospective students - children of employees of the branch. At the event teachers introduce them to the rules of admission to the university, talk about specialized occupations that are subject to preparation of students (currently the "Electric power systems and grids" and "Electricity Supply", "Electrical Machinery", "Power drive and automation of industrial installations and technological complexes ") and about required documents for admission. As a result of these meetings every year several employees’ children decide to enroll in the high school and successfully study there. In 2015, 8 employees’ children enrolled in the specialty of the university.
Another form of interaction with the university two years ago was the creation of students’ construction crews. In 2015, students of the specialized higher educational institution in the summer months under the guidance of Smolenskenergo’s experts worked at energy facilities in the region. In the circle of power engineers the young people not only worked well and usefully, but had interesting time: they visited as fans and not counting participants the corporate Sports Games of Smolensk power engineers, had trips to energy facilities, in the Grid Control Centre of the branch.
The interaction of the university and the power company will continue along the same lines in 2016.
