Staff of IDGC of Centre – Yarenergo division conducted an electrical safety lesson for first-graders of school №48

In the auditorium of the school power engineers talked with the young pupils about the electric current. They told them about its most important role in our modern life, and cautioned against its misuse.

"Electricity is an integral part of the present time, from our childhood we are surrounded by dozens of electrical appliances, which bring in our lives the light, warmth and comfort, take on some household tasks, allow rapidly learn the latest news and interact with each other at a distance. However, if not handled properly with them, electric current can be transformed from a friend and helper to an enemy," told the children an engineer of Yaroslavsky section of production safety and production control office of IDGC of Centre – Yarenergo division Andrey Vinogradov.

After that he reminded of the basic rules, compliance with which will avoid the risk of electric shock:

- Do not insert foreign objects into the outlet;

- Do not use defective appliances with damaged insulation of the electric cable;

- Do not leave heating appliances unattended;

- Do not be near substations and transformer boxes;

- Do not touch poles of power lines, not approach any broken wires on the ground closer than 10 metres;

- Notify an adult of any faults in electrical appliances.

For better absorption of the material the power engineers distributed to children books, stickers, schedules and memos, as well as showed cartoons on electrical safety.

Prevention of children’s electric injuries is one of the priorities in the activities of the branch of Yarenergo. The branch works with schools, children’s camps and educational institutions. During the year, the power company conducts more than 500 lessons on electrical safety, giving more than 10,000 leaflets with rules to handle electrical appliances.

During lessons specialists of the branch talk about the basic rules of electrical safety, in an accessible form explain to children the meaning of prohibition signs, which are installed at electric grid facilities - transformer substations and power lines, as well as urge not to approach them. IDGC of Centre – Yarenergo division will continue conducting lessons on electrical safety in schools and educational institutions in the region.
