Employees of Gagarinsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division conducted a raid on the identification and suppression of non-metered consumption of electricity in the territory of Gagarinsky district. The raid took place in conjunction with law enforcement officials. They checked electricity metering points of 15 individuals.
As a result of the raid five facts of non-metered consumption of electric energy were identified and recorded in the amount of 41,348 kWh. In the village of Pervitino two citizens were found having no seals of the power supply company, two other residents of the village made a load connection to the metering device. A fact of connecting the load to the metering device was also found with a resident of the village of Staroye. For three of them a police officer made protocols on administrative violations. Based on the materials on administrative offense a magistrate ruled at the end of January 2016 on the recognition of all three defendants guilty of committing administrative offenses and imposed the sentences in the form of a fine in the amount of 10,000 rubles.
The objective of these raids, according to experts of the branch, was not only the suppression of theft of electricity, but also conducting outreach with consumers. Smolenskenergo constantly works to combat commercial losses of electricity, including those with non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption. Unauthorized connection to electric networks incurs substantial losses of the company and may result in technological disturbances in the energy system. It is worth remembering that the connection to bypass the procedures established by the law is a crime and carries severe penalties against the offender.
