Smolenskenergo successfully implemented a program for improving reliability in 2015

21.01.2016

As part of the 2015 events of the "Target program to improve reliability" IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division upgraded equipment of 17 substations of 110 kV (West, Ivano-Gudino, Safonovo, Shumyachi, Pipe, Temkino, Subbotniki, Khislavichi, Monastyrschina, Lighting, Gagarin, Vaskovo, Stodolische, Russia, Ugra, Dneprovsk, Izdeshkovo) and SS 35kV (Ryabtsevo, Sozh, Uspenskoye, Kaskovo and others) with the use of new equipment, corresponding to modern requirements, which will increase the reliability and reduce costs of repairs.

Oil switches and short-circuiting and isolating switch sets were replaced for gas-insulated ones in the amount of 6 pieces. 77 oil switches of 6-10 kV were also replaced for vacuum, practically maintenance-free throughout their service life. The result of the project is improvement of the quality of electricity, increase of the reliability of electricity supply to consumers of the Smolensk region and the city of Smolensk.

An important measure to increase the reliability is also installation of bays of relay protection and automation designed to perform functions of management, protection, signaling, measurement and control at substations with the highest voltage of 110-35 kV. In 2015 6 relay protection and automation bays for a power transformer were installed, 2 relay protection and automation bays for sectionalizing switches, 8 bays of backup protection and automatic control of switching 110 kV lines that will allow to modernize the relay protection and automation of 16 overhead lines of 110 kV.

All the activities carried out will ensure the increase of speed of work of protection and automation and thus improve the reliability of power supply of consumers and reduce the time to eliminate emergency operation modes. It is worth noting that in the period from 2013 to 2015 it is planned to modernize in the amount of 324 million rubles, which will allow re-equipping most of the main feeding centres within the service area of Smolenskenergo.

"Target programs to improve reliability allow Smolenskenergo to successfully solve serious problems, to provide uninterrupted power supply to consumers even in such difficult periods, as the autumn-winter operation period," stressed the head of relay protection, automation, measurement and metrology of Smolenskenergo Alexey Merkulovich.
