Experts of Kurskenergo undertake measures against the theft of electricity

17.12.2015

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division does consistent work to identify and suppress facts of non-contractual and non-metered consumption. One of the most effective measures are raids, in which employees of Distribution Zones together with specialists from the metering department check power lines and metering devices for illegal connections.

For 11 months of this year 665 facts of non-contractual and non-metered energy consumption were revealed, totaling more than 4.4 million KWh. The amount of damage was about 14 million rubles. To date, more than 12 million rubles have been recovered from unscrupulous consumers, the remaining amount in under claim-related work.

Much attention is paid to prevention efforts, including those directed against one of the most common violations - adjustment of electricity meter readings. To prevent access to the contact connections and metering body without disturbing the seals of the grid organization, since the beginning of the year experts of Kurskenergo have installed about 58,000 seals, 25 thousand sealing stickers on meters and 8.6 thousand non-magnetic seals.

"Unauthorised connection to the power grid entails above-norm load increase and decrease in quality of power supply, resulting in often failed expensive home appliances," stresses the head of the electricity metering office of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division Dmitry Zheldakov. Kurskenergo warns: energy theft is a serious offense for which the law provides punishment. In addition, unauthorized connection to a power source may result in improper operation of grid equipment, electric shock, and is often the cause of fire.

The power company requests not to allow non-metered electricity consumption, as well as to inform about such cases via the single free phone of the company at 8-800-50-50-115.
