A resident of the Smolensk region can be imprisoned for three years for knowingly false information about bomb threat

In November the hotline of power engineers of IDGC of Centre received a report about the threat of an explosion of the transformer substation (TS-124) in the settlement of Gnezdovo of the Smolensk region, which belongs to IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division.

Information through the branch operators came to the security office, whose staff immediately informed about the threat responsible persons on duty of the Federal Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Smolensk region. The address of the caller was promptly identified.

A task force with bomb technicians went to the place of alleged terrorist attack, which found no suspicious objects, and determined that the report was false.

Already the other day a suspect committing the crime was identified - a resident of the village of Gnezdovo born in 1934, a disabled person of group 1, who during interrogation confessed. However, later it was found that his son, born in 1968, called the phone direct line of power engineers.

Currently, the internal affairs authorities decided to initiate a criminal case in relation to the suspect on grounds of the crime under Art. 207 of the Criminal Code "false report about an act of terrorism". This article of the law stipulates punishment in the form of a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles and imprisonment for up to three years.

Smolenskenergo’s security department during the check of the incoming message cooperated closely with the police, prepared the necessary technical materials for reasons of disconnection of the power facility. According to the management of the FSB and the Interior Ministry of Russia in the Smolensk region, thanks to the professional and operational actions of the operators of IDGC of Centre, the security service of the branch in contact with law enforcement authorities the suspect was quickly identified, measures were taken to contain and prevent the consequences of a negative situation.
