Kurskenergo applies modern methods of diagnostics of power equipment

26.10.2015

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division continues its work on diagnostics of electrical equipment to ensure trouble-free operation of the electric grid complex in the period of low temperatures. From the beginning of the year experts of "Kurskenergo" performed diagnostics of 188 power and 331 instrument transformers, 337 high-voltage switches. They did thermal imaging survey of more than 147 substations of 35-110 kV, 79 transformer substations of 10/0.4 kV and about 50 high-voltage power lines of 35-110 kV.

The power engineers use the most modern methods of equipment diagnostics, in particular - the survey in the infrared range, with which one can detect defects in the early stage. Another effective way of diagnosing is thermal control, which allows to detect faults and disturbances with a high degree of accuracy. Small weight and dimensions of devices allow to use them when walking rounds, which makes it possible to receive information on the status of substations and overhead lines, without switching them off.

"Diagnostic work is aimed at prevention of possible technological breakdowns during peak periods. Timely detection and elimination of damage to equipment of power facilities is the key to reliable and uninterrupted operation of the electric grid complex and stable electricity supply to consumers," stresses the chief of the diagnostics service of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division Vladimir Rotov.
