IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division continues to carry out systematic work on the implementation of programs to reduce children’s injuries. At the beginning of the new school year of 2015-2016 Smolenskenergo’s experts conducted a lesson on electrical safety in high school №4 in the city of Roslavl.
During the lesson in the school of Roslavl 50 fourth grade pupils and their teachers listened to a story about the rules of electrical safety and actively participated in the responses to questions. Leading engineer for labour protection of the department of labour protection and environmental safety of Smolenskenergo Galina Savchenkova told the children about the properties of electric current, as well as the dangers that it carries in itself. She reminded the schoolchildren about the careful handling of electrical appliances.
The children were shown posters on electrical safety and warning signs, which can be seen at various power facilities. 4 short thematic videos were of particular interest to the pupils, which vividly tell of the dangers of electricity.
In the course of the lesson the children learned a lot of useful information, showed their ability to distinguish a fit appliance from a defective one, and learned information about how to act, if one sees a bare wire in the street lying on the ground or hanging.
"The schoolchildren in the classroom were active and interested. And most importantly, when summing up the event they showed excellent absorption of the material," commented Galina Savchenkova.
In January-August this year Smolenskenergo’s experts conducted more than 80 lessons for schoolchildren in the region. Moreover, this work to teach children the rules of electrical safety did not stop during the summer holidays either - classes were held in children’s health camps, summer school grounds, children’s homes and boarding schools. By the end of this year about 50 lessons for pupils in the region are to be held.
