21.08.2015

Forty employees of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division and their families made a sightseeing trip to the Republic of Belarus. The trip was organized by the management and the trade union committee of the branch.

During a tour of the capital of Belarus - Minsk the power engineers learned about the history of the city, on its foundation, its first mentioning in the annals, the revival after numerous wars and fires. They visited the Independence Square, the Mariinsky Cathedral, the Minsk GUM, a magnificent architectural complex with two 11-story towers, called "the gateway of the city".

A fascinating journey into the world of the ancient way of life, folk crafts and technologies with tasting original dishes and horse riding the tour participants had in the museum complex "Dudutki" located under the open sky near the capital of Belarus. According to researchers, and according to "The song of Prince Igor", Polotsk Prince Vseslav the Wizard rode "a wolf to Nemiga from Dudutki, having learned about the siege of the ancient Minsk..."

But the power engineers had the most lasting impression with visiting the memorial complex "Khatyn", which is located 60 km from Minsk.

The history of the village of Khatyn, other Belarusian villages burned by the Nazis together with the residents during the war, is known all over the world. But, according to participants of the tour, when you are on the scene, read the names of the villagers on the pillars, hear the bells ringing, you almost physically feel the horror of what happened here more than 70 years ago.

"The busy excursion program, the rich historical past of Belarus, the hospitality of the locals made our stay memorable," shared her impressions Head of Customer Interaction Office Marina Zhilenkova.
