IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division conducts systematic work to combat the theft of electricity. Since the beginning of this year experts of the enterprise have revealed 466 facts of non-contractual and non-metered power consumption, totalling more than two million KWh. The amount of damage was 7,729 million rubles. The power engineers have already achieved recovery of the greater part: unfair consumers have paid 7,178 million rubles back. Claim-related work is being done on the remaining sum.
Experience has shown that the most effective way to combat the theft is checks, during which experts of Kurskenergo perform inspection of metering devices, power lines for illegal connections. In addition, the power engineers use special devices to prevent access to the contact connections and metering body without disturbing the seals of the grid company, detect interference of fraudulent consumers in the work of meters - holographic stickers, anti-magnetic seals, etc. In 2014-2015 about 22 thousand holographic stickers on meters and 8,000 non-magnetic seals were installed in the Kursk region.
Kurskenergo warns: power theft is a serious violation of the law, which carries a penalty! In addition, unauthorized connection to a power source may result in improper operation of grid equipment, electric shock, and is often the cause of fire.
