Orelenergo to hold lessons for electrical safety at children's summer camps

17.06.2015

During the summer holidays, when adults often do not keep an eye on children and adolescents, the topic of injury prevention at power facilities becomes particularly relevant. With this in mind, experts of IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division organize for children vacationing in recreational summer camps a series of training lessons on safety precautions and safe handling of electricity.

Power engineers will visit the summer camps of the Orel region (the children's sanatorium "Orlovchanka", "Breeze", the country sports camp "Cosmos", etc.), where they will conduct lessons on prevention of children’s electric injuries. They will talk about the danger fraught with electricity, why it is forbidden to play near power lines, touch electrical installations and wiring, ignore prohibiting signs, posters, and penetrate power facilities. Cartoons and presentations will help convey to children the information in an accessible form. To consolidate the knowledge all participants of a lesson will be handed out themed posters, colouring books, bookmarks and brochures, and the published with the participation of IDGC of Centre colouring book by Vyacheslav Kolesnik "Energolandiya", which tells the fascinating way on safe handling of electricity.

In total the power engineers will conduct 12 sessions in summer camps, they will involve more than 500 children aged 7 to 15.

"Employees of Orelenergo hold lessons on electrical safety in children's educational and preschool institutions of the Orel region regularly. Nevertheless, we believe that our work will bring the maximum effect if parents help secure the knowledge that we give to children. It would be good that they not only tell the children about electrical safety regulations, but they themselves set an example of respect for them," stressed the head of the department of labor protection and environmental safety of IDGC of Centre - Orelenergo division Andrey Sharin.
