At the training centre "Lubnya" in Smolensk on 28-29 May 2015 competitions of professional skills of operation and maintenance personnel of distribution networks of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division were held. This traditional event is aimed at improving the professionalism of staff of the branch, checking their knowledge and skills, competent and safe work performance at power facilities.
The preliminary qualifying rounds among crews of the Southern, Western, Central, Eastern sections of production depots of Distribution Zones were held 19-22 May. The winners of the preliminary stages in the regions came to represent their Distribution Zones to Smolensk. The judging committee was headed by First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division Nikolay Kireenko.
"Staff of crews of distribution network plays an important role in ensuring the reliability of energy supply. Their work is related to the daily risk to life and health, it requires high skills and professionalism, utmost care and concentration. They in any weather and at any time are the first go to the fault location, doing everything necessary to restore the power supply as soon as possible," commented Deputy Chief Engineer - Had of Distribution Networks Office Vitaly Mordykin.
The competition consisted of five stages. In the first stage all the crew members were individually tested of their knowledge of the software "ACOP Web-Expert". During the second stage the crews were to demonstrate the procedure and the correct action during the release of the victim from the electric current on a 10 kV pole without the use of specialized equipment, as well as providing first aid to the injured in accidents with the use of a robot-simulator "Gosha".
The third step identified the best to replace an interim reinforced concrete pole of an overhead line. At the penultimate stage the crew was to replace a defective 10kV bushing insulator at a 10/0.4 kV package transformer substation and measure the resistance of the grounding device of the 10/0.4 kV package transformer substation. The final stage of the competition was to put out the fire at a transformer of the 10/0.4 kV package transformer substation.
In a bitter struggle among the crews of distribution networks of Smolenskenergo the best ones were identified. The winner of the competition was the crew of Pochinkovsky Distribution Zone of the master Sergey Sergeyev, electricians Dmitry Komarov and Alexander Soldatenkov. Second place went to the crew of Smolensk City Distribution Zone: the master Evgeny Erokhov, electricians Ruslan Mendurov and Gennady Mararinov. Bronze winners were the representatives of Smolensk Distribution Zone - the master Pavel Mayorov, electricians - Alexey Chekhov and Alexey Anisimov.
According to the results of questioning the judging committee by a majority vote the best in the profession were determined. They were the master of Temkinsky Distribution Zone Mikhail Khokholev in the category "Best Master". In the category "Best Electrician" - the electrician of Smolensk City Distribution Zone Ruslan Mendurov. There were also additional nominations provided, and as a result of which it was determined that the youngest participant (master - Pavel Yakovlev) works at the crew of Kholm-Zhirkovsky Distribution Zone, and the most experienced participant (electrician - Vyacheslav Chepurnov) works at the crew of Temkinsky Distribution Zone.
Such competitions are an effective form of staff training to ensure safe, reliable and economical operation of power equipment. It is here that the competitors have the opportunity to network with colleagues from other districts, to adopt best practices.
