05.06.2015

In preparation of electric grid facilities of the Kursk region for the autumn-winter operation period, specialists of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division are performing a comprehensive overhaul of one of the important centres of power supply in the region - the 110/35/10kV Substation "Atom City".

The substation was constructed in 1997 on the territory of Kurchatov - the city of atomic scientists. The power facility is a key source of electricity for 40 thousand consumers of the housing and communal sector. The substation "Atom City" powers all household and social facilities of the city: kindergartens, schools, hospitals, shops, pumping stations, recreational areas, dispensaries and sanatoriums. In addition, it feeds four substations of 35/10kV in Kurchatovsky district: "Uspenka", "Greenhouses", "Kurchatovskaya" and the customer substation "Dredger".

The power engineers plan to repair 120 pieces of equipment at the substation "Atom City", affecting the reliability of the power facility, including - two power transformers of 25MVA each.

Experts of the branch will also repair oil receivers, relay protection and automation devices. All work is done by qualified maintenance personnel of the substation service of Kurskenergo. The substation repair completion is scheduled for July.

"The set of organizational and technical measures at the substation "Atom City" will provide protection, reliability and smooth operation of all electrical equipment of the substation at low temperatures, as well create conditions for reliable and stable power supply of residents of Kurchatov," stressed Deputy Chief Engineer - Head of High Voltage Grid Office of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division Sergey Skornyakov.
