07.05.2015

Seventh of May in the town of Shebekino the team of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division laid the Alley of Heroes of the Soviet Union, natives of Shebekinsky district, who showed supreme example of courage and heroism in the fight against fascism. The event was the final point in the historical and social action "Story of a feat", designed to perpetuate the memory of the known and unknown heroes of the Great Patriotic War, simple fighters and home front workers.

Representatives of the Shebekinsky District Administration, the military registration and enlistment office, the district council of veterans, schoolchildren and staff of Shebekinsky Distribution Zone were present at the alley laying.

Twelve maples as a symbol of the memory of each of the twelve heroes emerged beside the new repair and production base of Shebekinsky Distribution Zone. On how they honour the memory of the feat of arms of the Soviet people, there is the fact that participation in the project was taken by every second worker of the structural unit, who gathered bit by bit, created and sent to the site of the project a story of his or her father, grandfather, great-grandfather or just deserved countryman.

Acting Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division director Sergey Demidov thanked the staff of Shebekinsky Distribution Zone for active participation in the campaign: "The project has found a broad response in the company. Its employees have become authors of many stories about the heroic pages of the war, written by members of their families. For example, specialists of Belgorodenergo prepared more than 300 materials on their relatives, friends, fellow countrymen, who defended the country during the war. The power engineers hold sacred the memory of the immortal feats of our people in the Great Patriotic War, support veterans, consider it their duty to tell the youth about the courage of the soldiers-liberators, who defended freedom and independence of our country," he stressed.

Chairman of the Veterans’ Council of Shebekinsky district Joseph Faser stressed that Shebekinsky district boasts many well-known and respected people, but the 12 fellow countrymen, who were awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union, are of particular importance. These people are an example for many generations of residents of the district and region, their feat is immortal and will never be forgotten."
