IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division currently operates 47,430 lighting fixtures and 2,728 km of outdoor lighting networks. Work is performed under 313 municipal contracts.
In 2014, in addition to the maintenance of lighting fixtures, work on repair of exterior lighting networks (replacement of poles, wires with self-supporting insulated conductors, mercury lamps with sodium ones) was performed. In the city of Smolensk outdoor lighting networks on the streets of Little Red Fleet, 1st Krasninsky Lane, Academician Petrov (the area of school #17) were repaired. In the current year it is planned to overhaul outdoor lighting on the streets of New Moscow, Frunze, Nikolaev, Pamfilov.
For many years Smolenskenergo has been replacing mercury lamps for sodium ones, which are not only more environmentally friendly, but also cost-effective. So until the end of the year lighting fixtures 16-250 with mercury lamps will be replaced with 16-150 with sodium lamps in the yard areas of the micro-district of Kiselevka in Smolensk. The replacement of 650 lamps in this district will result in annual savings of 1.5 million rubles.
But the most energy-efficient way is to replace the fixtures to LED. Currently, in the Smolensk region 1,432 LED lighting fixtures are installed in the city of Rudnya, the settlement of Lake, the city of Smolensk (Kirov Str., Gen. Lukin Str., Moscow Highway - exit to the Moscow - Minsk Highway). By the end of the year it is planned to replace outdated fixtures to LED in the city of Dukhovschina, and in the city of Smolensk (Sovetskaya Str.).
This not only saves, but also makes outdoor lighting eco-friendly, modern and efficient.
There is another experience to improve energy efficiency. For example, on the street of Smolyaninov and the prospect of Konev in Smolensk during the night there is a special operation mode, in which every third lamp turns off or a row of lamps switches off. In October 2014 the night operation mode will be also implemented in the settlement of Verkhnedneprovsky. This brings economic effect, but technically it is difficult to perform, so it is not widely spread.
We remind you that in accordance with Art. 14 of Federal Law of 06.10.2003 N 131-FZ "On General Principles of Local Self-Government in the Russian Federation" (adopted by the State Duma on 16.09.2003) the organization of street lighting refers to the local issues of the settlement. Accordingly, if the streets of your neighborhood, town or village are not properly lighted, there is no outdoor lighting or there are damaged lamps, you should contact the administration of the relevant municipality, regardless of who owns and who operates these street lighting networks.
