Smolensk power engineers commemorated the fallen fighters for freedom

Staff of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division September 24, 2014 on the eve of the 71st anniversary of the liberation of Smolensk from the Nazi invaders took part in a meeting held at the military burial site "Blade" in the city of Smolensk. Representatives of the Youth Council, the Veterans’ Council, the trade union committee, as well as managers and employees of the branch together with veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of local authorities, students and schoolchildren laid wreaths on the graves of soldiers who died in the battle of Smolensk, remembered those distant times when our countrymen defended their land.

Please, note that every Distribution Zone of Smolenskenergo has memorials, obelisks and places of military glory in charge, in which there will be also rallies and wreath-laying in the coming days. In the cities of military glory - Vyazma and Yelnya - especially solemnly and on a large scale there are events held that are annually visited by delegations of staff of Distribution Zones located in these cities.

"Participation in the meeting is the first event for the Liberation Day of the Land of Smolensk and the Smolensk City Day, which was attended by Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre. In honour of commemorative dates there are many other activities scheduled in which employees of Smolenskenergo not only will be directly involved as guests and spectators, but many of them these days will be on duty and ensure uninterrupted power supply to the region, including the locations of all events," clarified Deputy Director for Technical issues - Chief Engineer Nikolay Kireenko.
