19.09.2014

IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division received its Certificate of readiness for the autumn-winter operation period of 2014/2015. This important document for the energy system of the region officially confirms that Kostroma power engineers fulfilled all the necessary scope of work as for repair and investment programs, as well as implemented all the planned activities for the modernization of power grid equipment.

Preparing for the autumn-winter operation period is a complex, tense, costly and important process, which begins in the spring. Comfort of all people of our region and correct operation of industrial plants, communication systems, water supply, transport, as well as the functioning of schools, hospitals, kindergartens and other social facilities depends on it very much in the cold winter months. An interdepartmental commission composed of representatives of IDGC of Centre, the Kostroma Region Administration, a branch of JSC "SO UES" Kostroma Transmission Control Centre, the regional offices of RTN and EMERCOM of Russia evaluated the work of the power engineers done.

Chairman of the commission, Deputy Chief Engineer for production control and safety of IDGC of Centre Alexander Zamotay presented Kostroma colleagues with their certificate of readiness: "The work of Kostromaenergo goes according to the plan, the main and additional conditions are met, and there are no comments from the Commission’s members. The branch approached very carefully to obtaining the certificate of availability. I would like to wish the Kostroma power engineers smaller natural disasters, as well as trouble-free operation through the autumn-winter period of 2014-2015."

Reliable and uninterrupted power supply is primarily dependent on the efficiency of electric equipment. Therefore, in the preparation for the autumn-winter operation period the power engineers gave a lot of attention to the implementation of investment and maintenance programs. By the end of September of 2014 comprehensive renovation of 20 substations 35-110 kV will be completed, 530 transformer substations of 6-10/0.4 kV will be repaired, 8,670 insulators and more than 1,500 poles will be replaced. In accordance with the schedules diagnostics and testing of equipment was performed. Relay protection and automation devices were checked.

This year the branch continued large-scale work on clearing and extension of ROWs. Full completion of annual volumes is planned by the end of September. 1,820.1 hectares of ROWs along power lines will be cleared of trees and shrubs, and they will be expanded in an area of 487 hectares.

To date, all the staff of Kostromaenergo is provided with protective gear, tools, specialized clothing and footwear. The branch has 189 crew vehicles available to travel, the power engineers also have first responding cars, off-road vehicles, snow mobiles, tractors and other special vehicles at their disposal. Trainings on operational liquidation of possible emergencies were conducted at all levels of responsibility with specialists of the branch.

The power engineers have more than fifty independent electricity generators to provide electricity to social facilities in case of potential failures.

Having received the Certificate of readiness, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division director Alexander Glebov addressed to his fellow power engineers: "Preparing for the autumn-winter operation period went in difficult conditions, at an accelerated pace. I want to say thanks to the executive office of IDGC of Centre, the entire staff of Kostromaenergo. All structural units aimed to perform the main task for the branch - preparation for the autumn-winter operation peak load. The work was completed on time. Our goal is to increase the reliability, i.e. the reduction in the number of technological failures and decreasing the time to eliminate them. We hope that the good work progress in this direction will continue and it will allow us to further provide reliable and quality power supply for residents of the Kostroma region."
