Joint emergency response exercise of power engineers were held in Lipetsk region

19.09.2014

September 18, 2014 in Gryazinsky district at a 110 kV substation there were exercises on the elimination of conditional violations of electricity supply to consumers.

The event was attended by operational staff of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division, operators of the Lipetsk Transmission Control Centre, a branch of JSC "FGC UES" "Upper Don Transmission Grid Company", staff on duty of General Directorate of EMERCOM of Russia in the Lipetsk region.

According to the scenario, developed by specialists of the Lipetsk Transmission Control Centre, at one of 220 kV substations under adverse weather conditions there was a fire outbreak in a switch and several 110 kV outgoing lines from the 220 kV substation were off with protection enabled. The resulting accident led to a conditional disruption of electricity supply of the town of Gryazy and Gryazinsky district of the Lipetsk region. In the area of conventional trips there were socially significant customers, including medical facilities, boilers, sewage pumping stations and schools. A total of 205 transformer substations were conventionally de-energized.

"The exercises of the operational staff of Lipetskenergo practiced skills to restore power supply, interrupted with fallen trees onto overhead power line, followed by breakage of wires, poles, and the destruction of insulators on the poles, as well as fire outbreak in a 110 kV oil circuit breaker and fire development," - said Deputy Director for Technical Issues - Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Lipetskenergo division Alexander Kornilov.

A fire crew of EMERCOM was involved to extinguish the conditional fire at the 110 kV substation. After extinguishing the fire emergency repair work was organized at the damaged power grid equipment in minimal time. After disconnecting the damaged equipment for repair and switching on backup equipment at the 110 kV substations the electricity supply to consumers in the Lipetsk region was quickly restored with the most reliable post-failure circuit.

The conducted upon completion of the training analysis of the actions of all participants confirmed the readiness of the Lipetsk power engineers to work in difficult operation conditions, typical for the autumn-winter operation period.
