29.08.2014

In Yaroslavl, on the Avenue of the Solovetsky apprentices a solemn ceremony was held to open a monument to Yaroslavl submariners - an exact copy of the famous submarine "Komsomolets of Yaroslavl". Staff of OJSC "Yargorelectroset" was directly involved in the installation of the memorial. To provide the necessary lighting street lighting poles were installed, a cable line of 100 meters and 0.4 kW was laid and lighting fixtures with sodium lamps were mounted. New lighting operates as urban lighting, so the submarine monument can be seen even from the opposite bank of the Volga river. Thanks to the modern lighting the area near the new monument has become a favorite place for celebrations of citizens of Yaroslavl and guests of the city.

Following the outcome of the work the Zavolzhsky district administration of Yaroslavl expressed sincere gratitude for the participation in the project on arrangement of the memorial to Yaroslavl sailors.

"Participation in the erection of the memorial complex is an honour for our company. The opening of such a monument is a tribute to the generation of sailors, all veterans who fought for their homeland. The power engineers are always willing to respond to such projects, they are very significant - that is a heroic part of the story not only of Yaroslavl, but also of the entire state," stressed Acting Director of Yargorelectroset Konstantin Kotikov.

For reference

The first submarine "Komsomolets of Yaroslavl" was constructed during the Great Patriotic War on the money collected by the people of the Yaroslavl region. It completed its large swimming only in 1960 at the Black Sea Fleet. According to a maritime tradition names of submarines are passed over, so a new, modern "Komsomolets of Yaroslavl" today swims in the Northern Fleet. The Yaroslavl region support patronage with the submarine’s crew.
