The first season of students’ construction crews ended at IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division. During one and a half month 26 students of the International Institute of Computer Technology (MICT) worked at power facilities of the branch. At the first stage the young people studied the technical documentation, the main production cycles, new technologies. And then they participated directly in the working process.
In particular, the young people were involved in the reconstruction of Substation 110/6 kV # 25 in the city of Voronezh. During the labour semester with their participation consumers were connected to the newly installed bays of Substation # 25, as well as 3.2 km of 10 kV cable lines were laid. The young people also did a large amount of work to lay a 6 kV cable line on the territory of Voronezh, followed by landscaping. Total in difficult conditions of urban infrastructure they laid 5 km of cabling. The construction crews’ members also participated in installation of metering equipment with circuit breakers on outgoing feeders of a 10 kV overhead line form the Substation 110/6 kV Will, checking cables, maintenance of transformers. They installed a total of 87 metering devices.
For the period of employment each of the students was assigned a mentor from experienced staff of the branch, who supervised the work and monitored compliance with labour standards. Before the season all the young people took a mandatory course on occupational safety and passed the exam for the second group of electrical safety. The labour of the construction crews’ members was paid by contractors in accordance with the terms of temporary employment agreement.
During the labour season the students were able to get knowledge about the nearly 80-year history of the company, including the stages of development of the regional electricity system, honoured workers and the most significant power facilities for the region. They got such a possibility visiting on a guided tour the power grid museum, as well as the Grid Control Centre of Voronezhenergo and the largest substation of Voronezh "Central".

After closing the season of students’ construction work the young people started their deserved vacation, and on September 1, they will continue with their education. A year later, many of them will start working at Voronezhenergo already as graduates.
Reference. Cooperation between Voronezhenergo and the International Institute of Computer Technologies started in 2009. Students of the Energy Department pass in the branch annual production practice. In addition, to date, the university enrolled about one hundred target students, and half of them are already working at Voronezhenergo and have correspondent training. In this case, managers and technical specialists of the company are involved as teachers in the educational process. The work of the students’ construction crews is the next stage of the joint development of the process of training the younger generation of power engineers.
