Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division Ekaterina Vasilyeva was one of the winners of the "Energy conservation: about complicated in a simple way", which was organized with the support of the Russian Ministry of Energy. Ekaterina prepared a presentation that became the best development of a master class for primary school children.
In her project the employee of the grid company invites kids to visit the country PowerSaver. During the lesson schoolchildren will run between the cities of WATER, HEAT, ELECTRICITY and ENERGOcity. They will be accompanied by a friendly electric vehicle Elektrosha. In each of the cities the kids will find out many interesting things about this or that kind of energy resources, and most importantly, learn how to use them carefully. Solution of game assignments will foster in children the basics of energy efficient behaviour. Colourful didactic materials will help consolidate the information obtained.
The purpose of the class is to teach children the basic rules. Turn off appliances that are not in use; do not waste the excess water; close windows and doors in winter not to let precious heat. By following these rules, the child not only keeps the family budget, but also saves natural resources, thereby reducing the negative impact on the environment. Energy saving – it's one of the questions to which the children can take a more responsible attitude than adults. Therefore, it is important to make schoolchildren not forget to keep track of how their parents, elder brothers and sisters use energy resources as well.
"Creative thinking prevails with kids, and the journey to the magical land can be an excellent way to bring these simple rules up to them. When children grow up, energy-efficient behaviour will be something self-evident to them. This means that the energy saving from a fairy tale will come true," Ekaterina is sure about.
