IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division has introduced high alert operation mode due to the abnormally hot and dry weather, established in the region. According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the Voronezh region, in the coming days the maximum temperature in the region can reach 37°C above normal by 7-8°C. In such weather conditions the risk of forest and man-made fires and failures at power facilities increases.
In order to ensure reliability of electricity supply Voronezh power engineers promptly took a series of preventive measures. In the first place, mobile crews were set on high alert, and the condition of the emergency reserve for use was checked. Planned maintenance was suspended and the scheme of normal power supply to consumers was restored to its maximum.
The power engineers tested the readiness of mobile crews to perform first responding and restoration operations, availability of vehicles and equipment, operation of mobile diesel generators, as well as the state of emergency firefighting equipment at power facilities, the state of first-aid kits in workplaces and in working crews. The question on the possible involvement into the first responding and restoration operations was worked out with contractors. Greater control over changes in air temperature was set in the Grid Control Centre of Voronezhenergo (GCC).
According to weather forecasts, abnormally hot weather in the region can remain the first ten days of August.
