Employees of the department of public relations of IDGC of Centre - Tambovenergo division within the "Week of Energy Safety" held a meeting with representatives of the Centre of State Inspectorate for Small Vessels (the Center of SISV) of EMERCOM of Russia in the Tambov region. The aim was to develop a system of cooperation in addressing prevention of electrical injuries of third parties near power facilities of the distribution electric grid.
The power engineers consider important to develop the cooperation with the Centre of SISV. The main objectives of this structure are realization of the state and technical supervision of small vessels, as well as provision within its competence safety of people on water bodies. In turn, for Tambovenergo’s specialists the work with owners of small vessels is a significant component in activities to prevent electrical injuries.
The parties agreed to work together on preventing injuries to third persons near power facilities. In particular, the representatives of the Centre of SISV will distribute among small boaters while their taking the annual technical inspection of water-borne vehicles and exams for licences information booklets prepared by the power engineers devoted to safety features for vessel traffic in the exclusion zones of power lines. In addition, experts of Tambovenergo will participate in patrols and raids conducted by inspectors of the Centre.
"In the Tambov region there are more than three thousand small boaters. We pay special attention to their compliance with safety rules and will be happy to cooperate on this issue with such a serious organization like Tambovenergo having extensive experience in this area," stresses the head of the Centre of SISV of EMERCOM of Russia in the Tambov region Andrey Sevostyanov.
The power engineers remind small boaters to follow electrical safety codes when moving yachts, cutters and boats in the exclusion zones of power lines. Accordance with the regulatory requirements the exclusion zones are established along transitions of overhead power lines (Conductors) over water bodies as the air space above the water surface of the water bodies (to a height corresponding to the height of overhead line poles), limited with vertical planes spaced on both sides of the power line from the outer wires in their undeflected position for navigable waters within 100 metres, for non-navigable waters – at a distance, provided for the establishment of exclusion zones along Conductors passing on land (Conductors up to 1 kV – 2 m, Conductors 6-10 kV – 10 m, Conductors 35 kV – 15 m, Conductors 110 kV – 20 m).
