IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division hosted the celebrations dedicated to laying an alley of Power Engineers in honour of the tenth anniversary of IDGC of Centre, and the celebration of Victory Day.
Veterans of World War II, who worked at Tverenergo, together with representatives of the Youth Council planted 50 young seedlings of coniferous and deciduous trees in the area adjacent to the branch.
Sergey Zhirkov, Head of Human Resources of the Tver branch, stressed the significance and symbolism of the event: "The Alley of Power Engineers is memory not only of today, it is the memory of large-scale work done, of those professionals who created the powerful grid of cities in Central Russia. It is particularly pleasant that today we are joined by the veterans of World War II and the energy industry, because many of them grew more than one generation of young professionals who now work for the benefit of the energy industry."
Congratulations to the veterans continued with a celebratory concert "Songs of the war... ", where melodies of the front years sounded for the oldest workers of the energy industry. Participants of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers shared memories, told how different military roads they stepped towards the Victory. A member of the Veterans’ Council Alexey Khazov told how during the occupation of Kalinin the power engineers stashed equipment in the Volga River, in spite of the intense cold so that the fascists could not get it. But a week after the city's liberation from Nazi invaders the power supply of Kalinin was restored.
May 9 the power engineers will participate in city events commemorating the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Employees of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division in 5 cities of Military Glory of the region will commemorate fallen defenders of the Motherland, laying wreaths at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. In Tver the power engineers will take part in a festive meeting dedicated to Victory Day and lay flowers to the obelisk of Victory.
