IDGC of Centre - Yarenergo division developed and implemented a set of measures for the operation through spring floods. By the first week of the flood there were no power supply interruptions caused by flooding.
Officially the flood period began on March 25. Before the start a list of facilities in the area of risk was formed. Drainage systems and drainage ditches were checked, measures were taken to prevent any penetration of meltwater into cable trays, drip trays and water supply sources.
Currently, the branch a commission at work, which monitors the flood situation throughout the Yaroslavl region. Power engineers control the level of groundwater and river water, the degree of destruction of banks and state of buildings foundation upon thawing of the soil.
The task of the power engineers throughout the period of high water is to prevent flooding of power supply facilities and to avoid power failures. The branch organized operational communications with the Russian Emergencies Ministry departments, administrations of municipalities and hydrometeorological services.
"In winter no intensive snowfall was observed, so the strong flood is not expected. The power engineers are ready for any emergency situations. For possible interruptions emergency reserve supply of materials and equipment was formed, redundant power supply sources were made available, operational and maintenance personnel had necessary training," stressed the head of the department of analysis and production management of Yarenergo Alexander Khlapov.
