Kurskenergo improves its remote control and communication systems

12.03.2014

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division performs systematic work on upgrading and replacing its remote control and communication systems under operation. Its objectives are to improve the monitoring of the technological process, increase the reliability of electricity supply to consumers, and simplify procedures for managing the electrical grid.

In 2013, as part of creation (reconstruction) of a data collection and transmission system at the 110 kV substations "Ore", "Khomutovka", "Olkhovka", "High", "Kirov", "Device" and 35 kV "Gakhovo" and "Gastomlya" new modern remote control systems MTK-30 and MTK-40 were installed. The modern remote control systems were also installed at the reconstructed 110 kV substation "Beketovo" and 35 kV "Pristen". After completion of the reconstruction of the substation "Central" with changing to the voltage of 110/10 kV as part of the data collection and transmission system of the power facility a remote control system "Remote channel – M2" was put into commercial operation. In the course of the modernization of the remote control system of the 110 kV substation "R. Budy" the volume of transmitted telemetry data was increased.

While performing the modernization of the automated supervisory control of power grid equipment in Distribution Zones Kurskenergo uses the latest technical solutions. So work places of dispatching points in Distribution Zones are equipped with multiple monitors with wide screen and FullHD resolution, allowing simultaneous visualization of the distribution network in the Distribution Zone displaying facilities on the base map. Such an approach, for example, was used in the modernization of the supervisory control in Medvensky Distribution Zone.

This year, the process of modernization of remote control in Kurskenergo continues. In particular, currently at the 110 kV substations "Tim", "Kshen", "Cheremisinovo" work on the installation of new remote control systems "Compass 2.0" is under way. The completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2014. During the spring similar events will start at the 110 kV substations "Revival", "Orlovka" and 35 kV "Mid. Olshanka", "Mansurovo". For the second half of 2014 it is planned to perform procurement procedures for modernization of remote control systems at the 110 kV substations "White", "Sunrise" with the completion of work and commissioning of equipment in 2015.

"According to the plans of development of automated process control systems, in the future modern remote control systems will be installed at all substations of Kurskenergo of 35-110 kV voltage level," stressed Head of Information Technology of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division Nikolay Golitsyn.

The modernization of remote control systems allows Kurskenergo to fulfill the requirements of JSC "SO UES" to transmitted telemetry data. In addition, with the implementation of remote control systems and automated supervisory systems in Distribution Zones operators can in real time receive information on equipment operation at power facilities and monitor the status of the grid parameters: voltage level, power consumption, temperature, and other parameters. Also the possibility of remote control of equipment at substations will allow to optimize costs of visits of first responding mobile crews.
