IDGC of Centre — Kurskenergo division held a solemn meeting devoted to the Power Engineers’ Day and the 55th anniversary of the Kursk power grid. The event took place in the Kursk Drama Theatre. Representatives of the regional and municipal authorities, heads of utilities and partner companies, and industry veterans came to congratulate power engineers on the professional holiday and jubilee.
May 13, 1958 is considered to be the date of birth of the Kursk grid, when by order of the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR Regional Electricity Board «Kurskenergo» was established in the Kursk region. Its operation start was the beginning to make plans for development of the power system in the region. Production departments and services of Kurskenergo were created, efforts were taken to perform electrification of the Kursk region.
This significant date was preceded by other important events to the history of the region’s energy industry: the appearance of the first diesel power plant in the city of Kursk in 1898, and then, in 1934 — the Central power station. Both of these facilities played an important role in the development of the energy sector in the Kursk region, laying the preconditions for the establishment of a complete power grid of the region in 1958.
All this was told by the meeting’s organizers to its participants, and in the most original way: through a laser show, sand drawing, and theatrical performances.
During the official part of the event the Kursk power engineers accepted congratulations. Deputy General Director — Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre Sergey Shumakher, representing the company at the ceremony, in his welcoming speech called the Kursk branch a reliable link in the dynamically developing grid of Central Russia, advanced on many issues of industrial activity. And in this case, said Sergey, there is considerable credit to both the management of the branch and the whole team.
First Deputy Governor of the Kursk region Alexander Zubarev in his congratulatory speech noted big importance of the power engineering profession — one of the most creative. «In Russia we occupy a leading position in economic development. And this is a great contribution of all the Kursk power engineers,» thinks Alexander.
Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Kurskenergo division director Alexander Pilyugin stressed in his speech that in 55 years in the Kursk region a developed energy infrastructure with strong technical and intellectual potential has been created, providing reliable energy resources to the economy and social sphere of the region, supplying uninterrupted electrical energy to neighbouring regions. And the task of the new generation of power engineers today is based on extensive professional experience of predecessors to work on creating a qualitatively new company to meet modern challenges.
The meeting ended with a solemn awarding ceremony, during which a large group of power engineers of Kurskenergo were given state and industry awards and certificates of merit from the regional executive and legislature authorities, and the administration of the city of Kursk.
