Lipetskenergo continues to improve the grid reliability

24.12.2013

During the period from January to November 2013 power engineers of IDGC of Centre — Lipetskenergo division cleared 299.2 hectares off tree and shrub vegetation along ROWs of overhead power lines of 0.4/10.6 kV and 116.6 hectares along conductors of 35/110 kV.

The greatest amount of work was performed by specialists of Zadonskiy Distribution Zone, the service area of which has the greatest forest cover compared with other areas of the Lipetsk region.

Clearing the ROWs in exclusion zones of overhead lines is one of the priorities of power engineers within the activities aimed at further improvement of the reliability of power supply. Analysis of technological violations in the company’s networks showed that falling trees on power lines is the most common cause of wire breakage during adverse weather conditions.

In total the power engineers of the Lipetsk branch of IDGC of Centre in 2013 cleared 415.8 hectares off tree and shrub vegetation along ROWs of the main overhead power lines of various voltage levels.
