IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division is implementing a major project for the construction of 130 kilometres of outdoor lighting for new highways of the region. Among them there is a section of the road «Belgorod — Pavlovsk» near the villages of Far Igumenka, Shlyakhovo, Klínovets, a section of the highway «Belgorod — Shebekino — Volokonovka», Rzhev highway in the town of Shebekino and a detour road in the settlement of Tomarovka and city of Belgorod in Michurin street.
The work is being performed in accordance with the long-term target program «Improvement and development of the transport infrastructure of the Belgorod region in 2011-2017». A total of about 300 million rubles of investment funds were spent on the projects.
A new 37-kilometre section of the road «Belgorod — Pavlovsk» is part of the highway connecting the two main administrative centre of the Belgorod region — Belgorod and Stary Oskol. The road has two carriageways, two lanes in each direction, hard shoulder and a five-metre traffic strip. The width of one carriageway is 8.5 metres.
Throughout the highway there are modern outdoor lighting installed, which will provide day-and-night safe driving of vehicles with calculated speeds and reduce road accident risks. During the construction the used technology in laying lighting networks is underground metal-sheathed power cable of 0.4 kV. Due to its insulation from PVC plastic and a protective cover («metal-sheathed») from a galvanized steel tape, it will provide maximum protection against mechanical damage to networks and the required level of aesthetic perception.
The highway will be lit with energy-saving HCS −400 HPS lamps, which have long life and maximum degree of luminaire efficiency, compared to traditional light sources. On this section there are over 1,180 of these lamps to be installed, and all along the new roads — about 2,340 lighting points.
Similar technology is used on other sections of the road network, the reconstruction of which is planned to complete already this year.
