Kostroma power engineers of IDGC of Centre will enhance the reliability of power supply of Kadyysky district

13.08.2013

IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division in the current year will modernize 110 kV substations in Kadyysky district of the Kostroma region. One of the key facilities of the project is a large-scale reconstruction of the substation «Kadyi».

The substation was constructed in 1983, is located in the district centre and feeds most of the settlement. Currently, the district has an intensive development of housing and social facilities. Small business is rapidly developing, which leads to higher energy consumption.

The 110 kV «Kadyi» will have its comprehensive reconstruction. The main power equipment will be replaced at the facility. Kostroma power engineers will install 6 new 110 kV current transformers, two units of isolating switches and short-circuiting switches to replace the current 110 kV gas-insulated circuit breakers and 10 kV oil circuit breakers for vacuum.

In addition, relay protection and automation equipment will undergo complete modernization. Some relay protection and automation systems based on microprocessor technology will be installed at the substation. They are able to monitor and store all the network parameters prior faults and at their moment that allows to quickly find the cause and eliminate the fault. At the substation a remote control system will also be installed to transfer information on the state of the equipment and the grid settings to the higher authorities of supervisory control.

All installed equipment meets the modern requirements of reliability and safety, is more durable, and has a greater service life. The reconstruction of the substation will begin in the third quarter of 2013, will be performed without disconnection of consumers, with a phased removal of the equipment out of operation.
