Power engineers of Lipetskenergo have prepared for operation through spring floods

In the Lipetsk region flooding is expected in April. To ensure the smooth operation of grid facilities IDGC of Centre — Lipetskenergo division has established a special flood commission, which has been headed by Deputy Director for Technical Issues — Chief Engineer of the branch Alexander Kornilov.

In preparation for operation through spring flood in 2013 power engineers have completed a range of activities to ensure reliable, trouble-free operation of the equipment, buildings and structures of the electric grid in the Lipetsk region. Priority was given to verify the status of power facilities in the zone of possible flooding. Special vehicles, machinery and mechanisms, including floating means, pumps and motor pumps have also been set under special control. For rapid response to flood situations 118 crews in the branch are on a constant alert, emergency supplies have been created, including parts of poles, building materials, and special clothing. For possible technological failures the branch has prepared 43 diesel generator sets and developed schemes for back-up power supply to consumers that will ensure continuity of supply of social facilities.

A special place was given to the training of personnel to operate in a flood. To this end, the staff of Lipetskenergo had extraordinary briefings and emergency response trainings were organized.

Implementation of all flood protection measures was performed in close cooperation with municipalities, emergency, weather and other organizations, which ensure normal functioning of the infrastructure of cities and districts of the Lipetsk region.

At the time of the flooding Lipetskenergo will organize enhanced duty of responsible personnel.
