Employees of Orelenergo revealed almost one million kWh of electricity unmetered

19.09.2012

Staff of IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division identified in the current year 1033 cases of theft of electricity. The total amount of unmetered energy totalled nearly 2.8 million kWh. These kilowatt-hours would be enough, for example, to provide electricity for two months in Soskovsky district of the Orel region, where there are 102 settlements.

There are 200 unscrupulous consumers living in the household sector. Other 56 facts of non-contracted consumption were found among entities. For each offense acts were drawn up.

It should be reminded that electricity theft is a criminal offense. The actions of evil-doers fall under Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation — “Causing damage to property by deception or abuse of trust”. It provides different types of punishment: a fine of up to eight times the minimum wage, correctional labour for up to one year, detention for up to four months, or by deprivation of liberty for up to two years.
