Smolensk power engineers of IDGC of Centre provided illumination to a new church in the settlement of Verkhnedneprovsky

The settlement of Verkhnedneprovsky of Dorogobuzhsky district in the Smolensk region a church in honour of St. John of Kronstadt was consecrated in August. This event was preceded by a lot of work, including the power engineers of Dorogobuzhsky Distribution Zone (DEN) of Smolenskenergo to provide all possible assistance in raising funds to build the church and promote improvement of the neighborhood. This year, on the way to the Orthodox sanctuary lights were installed: now the temple at dusk is of special magnificence.

Blessing was made by the ruling bishop of the diocese, Bishop Panteleimon of Smolensk and Vyazma. At the service the women’s choir of the Smolensky Monastery of the Ascension sang. After the blessing Archbishop congratulated everybody on this significant event for the parish, wishing that the parishioners’ life to be filled with prayers about God, doing good deeds.

After the service, Bishop Panteleimon of Smolensk and Vyazma awarded special Bishop’s diplomas those who laboured to build the temple, among them the Archbishop noted the work and efforts of Chief of Dorogobuzhsky DEN Oleg Bagruk wishing him God’s help, patience and diligence in work.

Bishop’s certificate of merit “a blessing for assiduous zealous labors for the glory of the Russian Orthodox Church” is now kept in pride of place in the building of Dorogobuzhsky DEN and all employees are particularly proud of it.

“The opening of the cathedral — a very important event in the social and cultural life throughout the Smolensk region. The temple will become a symbol of the recovery of lost traditions and historical and architectural appearance of the village and will unite believers of the Smolensk land. We are pleased that we became involved in this event. Naturally, we could not stay away from such a large and important social event for the area and gave it full support,”- said Oleg Bagruk.
