The result of the prevention and detection of unauthorized connections to the grid of IDGC of Centre for the first half of 2012 was the decline of energy theft by 15% compared to the same period last year. This is made possible by a systematic and comprehensive work of power engineers, aimed at preventing illegal consumption.
For the six months of this year, experts in the electricity metering Office conducted 108 raids to identify those violations. On the facts of non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption 1585 acts for the amount of 6566 million kWh were made. Of these, most of the facts were unmetered power consumption — 635 acts for 4469 million kWh. This amount would be enough to provide electricity to a whole district of the region for over 1 month.
During the joint raids with the staff of district police forces, practiced in the branch, 197 cases of theft of electricity were revealed, the guilty persons were charged with criminal and administrative responsibility.
The greatest number of thefts was recorded in Dankovskiy district.
The worst offender of the reporting period was OJSC PCP “Khlevenskoe”, which stole 224 thousand kWh of electricity at 1, 21 million rubles.
“During the traditional summer mass resettlement of residents outside the city limits to gardening plots it is especially important to recall that electricity theft — one of the factors reducing the quality of electric power, which is reflected not only on the activities of the branch, but also on the reliability of power supply of customers, and safety of distribution networks. Illegal connections to the power grid can cause accidents. Do not forget that the tampering of meters and unauthorized consumption — an administrative and criminal act”, — underlined Head of electricity metering Office Evgeny Svintsov.
