17 3rd year students of Ivanovo State University (ISPU) are having their practical work in IDGC of Centre — Tverenergo division. From 2008 to the present the branch has employed 70 graduates of ISPU.
During the practice specialists of Tverenergo introduce students to the main activities of the branch, the development prospects and social guarantees. The first skills in the future profession the boys can get in such structural units as power lines service, relay protection and automation service, diagnostics and substations services. Some of the students are being trained in the Kalinin District of Electrical Networks.
Young trainees visited the operators’ office of the Tversky Electrical Networks and Grid Control Center (GCC) of the branch. Deputy Chief Engineer for operational and technological control — Head of the Grid Control Centre of Tverenergo Vladislav Ostrik at a meeting with the students emphasized the uniqueness and significance of the power engineering profession and the importance of the young people potential development.
Tver power engineers are planning to hold a study tour for the boys at one of the substations of the branch, where the students can get acquainted with the new and modern equipment — transformers with capacity of 40 MW, current limiting reactors, gas-insulated and vacuum switches, operational control panel, and protection panels.
Head of Human Resources of the branch Sergey Zhirkov noted the enthusiasm shown by the future power engineers, curiosity and keen interest. “The practice of the Ivanovo student is under the guidance of experienced managers, which bear a great responsibility: not just to ensure that the young people could have their complete and safe execution of the program, but also to spark the students’ interest in the power engineering profession. The future of the Tver power system largely depends on these young professionals, so we focus on working with young people, particularly students. These are power engineers of tomorrow, who we readily pass all the experience, all the tricks of the trade to,” — he stressed.
