Tver power engineers of IDGC of Centre visited ancient Russian cities

Employees of IDGC of Centre — Tverenergo division devoted two days of July studying historical places of the Golden Ring of Russia. As part of the weekend tour the power engineers visited two ancient cities of Russia — Yaroslavl and Kostroma.

The journey began with an introduction to interesting pages of the history of the principality of Tver. In Yaroslavl employees of Tverenergo and their families visited the Holy Transfiguration Monastery and made a tour of the city. The travelers were able to see the renovated sights, the Arrow — Point at the confluence of the Volga and Kotorosl rivers, which is the place of Yaroslavl foundation. Lovers of hiking walked through the embankment of the Volga and appreciated the beauty of the Cathedral of the Assumption and Church of Elijah the Prophet.

The entertaining part of the sightseeing tour with an interactive theatrical performance program and a visit to Alyosha Popovich’s tower was unusual.

On a Sunday tour of Kostroma the power engineers examined a magnificent panorama of the city center — the majestic fire-tower, elegant shopping arcades, and also visited Bogoyavlensko-Anastasiin Monastery, the Cathedral of Kostroma diocese.

The two-day trip ended with visits and familiarity with the history of the Ipatiev Monastery — a unique monument of history and architecture, invariably referred to as “the cradle of the Romanov dynasty”. Connoisseurs of religious antiquities visited Trinity Cathedral and the House of Romanov boyars.

IDGC of Centre — Tverenergo division together with Electric Trade Union not for the first time organizes visits of the Company’s employees to cultural and historical places of Russia. In 2011 the branch’s staff made corporate visits to the cities: Kazan, Valdai, Rostov, Riga and Tallinn. In 2012, power engineers had time to visit the Moscow Zoo and took a guided tour to Prague. The trade union plans to organize a trip to Poland for specialists of Tverenergo.
