02.08.2012

IDGC of Centre — Tambovenergo division completed work on lighting installation for the memorial to the soldiers-countrymen of Znamensky district in the Tambov region, who died in the Great Patriotic War.

Power engineers in a short time supplied power from the nearest package transformer substation in Duplyato-Maslovo. The crew for operating distribution networks of Znamensky DEN installed 13 poles, 14 street lighting fixtures, pulled about 400 metres of self-supporting insulated wire. The branch’s participation in the electrification of the memorial became a major contribution of Tambovenergo to reconstruct the complex.

Monument to the Liberator-Soldier stood in the village before, but over time became dilapidated and in need of renovation. On the marble slabs of the memorial complex there are names immortalized of the residents who did not come home from the battlefields in 1945. About 500 people left the village to the front and 342 of them never came back.

The list of names of the fallen is carved on the memorial slab, for the period of restoration a hundred names were added. The restoration and opening of the monument were a continuation of the historical and patriotic action, within which more than 50 such memory complexes to countrymen, who remained on the battlefield, have been built in the region.

The opening ceremony of the memorial was attended by Head of Administration of the Tambov region, Oleg Betin, Chairman of the Regional Duma Alexander Nikitin, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Duma Vladimir Karev, Head of the regional center of Tambov region Alexey Kondratyev, Major-General Victor Podluzhny, Head of Administration of Znamesky district Yury Rogachev, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Tambovenergo division director Vladimir Syschikov, veterans, military personnel, students of the Tambov Cadet Corps and inhabitants of the village.

The students of the cadet corps, soldiers-warriors, representatives of the official delegation and veterans laid at the foot of the obelisk garlands of fir branches, wreaths and baskets of fresh flowers, and schoolchildren released doves and balloons into the sky. The opening ceremony of the memorial to the memory of the fellow countrymen in the village of Duplyato-Maslovo in Znamesky district was finished with a concert of the best creative teams of the region.

“Power engineers could not stay away from this important event and joined to participate in the memorial event. The names of the fallen will stay on the marble slabs of the monument as a token of eternal memory of the exploits of the heroes. The new complex has rightly become one of the most beautiful corners of the village of Duplyato-Maslovo”, — stressed Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre — Tambovenergo division director Vladimir Syschikov.
