Smolenskenergo is preparing for the coming fire risk period

In order to prepare for the summer fire-dangerous period in 2012 IDGC of Centre – Smolenskenergo division conducted spot checks of fire safety conditions of assigned facilities by the forces of fire technical committees. As a result of the audits further activities will be developed to be included in the Target Program to upgrade the level and improve fire safety at the facilities of the branch for 2011-2013.

Employees of Smolenskenergo take all measures to ensure the complex fire protection measures in exclusion zones along overhead power lines. When working on clearing ROWs along overhead power lines timely clearing of the zones from felled trees is ensured.

Extra training of staff was conducted to comply with the requirements of "Rules of fire safety in forests", and also relevant memos were sent on compliance with the Rules of establishing exclusion zones of electric grid facilities and special conditions of use of land located within the boundaries of these zones, by farmers, whose territory those overhead power lines go through.

Staff of IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division performs practical measures to ensure the complex fire-prevention measures, including conducting an additional check of the equipment of substations. In case of emergency specialists of Smolenskenergo have worked out schemes of interaction with the Head Office of Emergency in the Smolensk region, in the near future, together with local fire departments joint fire fighting trainings will be conducted to practice putting out a fire at a 110-35 kV substation.

Smolensk power engineers warn that ignoring safety rules, you will not only jeopardize uninterrupted power supply, but also jeopardize the life and health of yourself and others around you.
