A workshop for instructors to provide first aid at work was held in Kurskenergo

Seventeen instructors to provide first aid at work improved their skills at the workshop held at the training centre for operators of IDGC of Centre — Kurskenergo division.

The objectives of this workshop were to acquire skills by the trainees in first aid in case of an accident at work, training of instructors- resuscitators in accordance with the requirements up to the quality level of first aid provision throughout the Russian Federation, the development of a common systematic approach to training first aid persons who do not have any professional medical education.

The training was conducted by Professor, Head of the department of anesthesiology, reanimation and intensive care of the Kursk State Medical University Sergey Sumin and Ph.D., Assistant Professor of anesthesiology, reanimation and intensive care of the Kursk State Medical University Igor Borodin.

During the training the techniques were presented, the rules and tactics of first aid at the accident site (including a road accident, electric shock) before the arrival of emergency medical care. Particular attention was paid to methods of assessment of the state of the patient with injuries of different nature, the identification of threats to life, first aid measures designed to increase the probability of survival of victims.

During the practical training the participants learned skills in first aid and were able to achieve in the first aid provision the level of the set time standards.
