Orel power engineers of IDGC of Centre are ready for a fire-dangerous period

In order to prepare for the fire-dangerous period in 2012, to ensure fire safety and improve the fire protection of the electric grid of IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division power engineers are implementing a number of necessary measures.

Resources of fire and technical commissions of structural units of the branch are conducting spot checks of fire safety conditions of assigned facilities to identify violations of fire safety and perform explanatory work with engineers, employees of structural units of the branch to implement the fire safety regulations and comply with fire safety operation mode at the facilities of the branches. Under the “Target program to upgrade and improve fire safety at the facilities of IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division for 2011-2013” fire fighting primary means are being purchased, the installation of automatic fire alarm in buildings of four Districts of Electrical Networks has been scheduled. Fire-retardant treatment of wood and metal structures of buildings will be performed, high-speed arc protection against short circuits of 6-10 kV switchgear and control gear at 110 kV substations will be installed and commissioned, and oil receiving devices will be repaired.

“A strict fire fighting operation mode has been already implemented in all structural units of the branch, oil-filled equipment has been checked. All facilities of the branch are equipped with the necessary fire extinguishing means. Power engineers are cleaning substations and distribution points from combustible rubbish,”- said fire safety engineer of technical and production control department of the branch Lev Mezentsev.

Planned joint fire trainings with fire departments have been started to practice putting out fires at electric power facilities of. An agreement has been reached on cooperation with the Center for Crisis Management of MES of Russia in the Orel region.

Before the fire risk period the branch has assigned responsibility of its staff for ensuring fire safety in all electrical installations, buildings, warehouses and industrial sites.

It should be noted that there were no fires at the facilities of IDGC of Centre — Orelenergo division during 2010-2011.
