IDGC of Centre — Kurskenergo division disseminates best practices of electrical equipment diagnostics

20.03.2012

A training seminar for masters of electrical equipment diagnostics of Districts of Electrical Networks (DEN) was held in IDGC of Centre — Kurskenergo division. The classes included in-depth study of modern methods of testing and measurement of 0.4-10 kV electrical distribution networks.

During the training specialists also discussed the formation of uniform principles of work of diagnostics Services of DEN, learned modern developments in thermal imaging survey and exchanged work experience.

“It should be noted that the training of this level, regularly held at the branch, increases the professional level of employees, and thereby contributes to more efficient work aimed at ensuring stable and uninterrupted functioning of the electric grid in the region” — says Head of the seminars — Chief Engineer of Rilsky DEN Pyotr Arbuzov.

The use of modern diagnostics techniques allows Kursk power engineers of IDGC of Centre to identify and remove defects in the equipment at a very early stage, which helps optimize the repair cost of lines and substations.

For example, the thermal imaging surveys performed last year allowed timely to identify 64 defects at substations of various voltage levels. Of these eight cases needed urgent repair, which allowed to prevent possible malfunction of the equipment, in 17 cases the repair was performed within a month, in the other cases — in a planned manner.

Equipment diagnostics methods, used in accordance with the technical policy of IDGC of Centre, allow timely to decide on replacement of electrical equipment and reduce risks associated with power outages.
