IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division summed up the implementation of its environmental policy in 2011. In 2011 IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division spent 4.5 million rubles on the implementation of measures of its environmental policy.
The main activities of the program of the environmental policy over the past year were the organization of primary records of waste generation, logging and accounting of waste generation and movement, the organization of timely delivery to the disposal of waste generated in the process of repair, maintenance and reconstruction of power grids.
Power engineers increased their control over the conditions of the interim storage of used mercury lamps, on the marking of containers for waste collection of classes of hazard I — IV, the making of the places of soil pollution in proper order, environmental inspections in subdivisions
In order to organize the separate storage of waste the containers for the collection and accumulation of mercury waste and municipal solid waste, concrete slabs for arrangement of sites for the accumulation of waste and oil collecting pans were purchased in 2011. Also, the branch installed 178 bird scaring devices.
During the reporting period, the work on the development of projects for maximum allowable emissions and projects for waste generation standards and their disposal limits. In order to improve the competence of personnel in the field of environmental protection 50 employees of the branch (heads of departments and persons responsible for environmental safety) had their training on «Hazardous Waste». Upon completion of their training certificates were issued for the right to work with hazardous waste.
IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division operates under the current project standards for maximum allowable emissions of air pollutants and projects for waste generation standards and limits on their storage. Increasing the level of environmental safety allows to make environmentally grounded management decisions and to continually improve the environmental situation.
