Fruitful cooperation of Smolenskenergo with the branch of National Research University “Moscow Power Engineering Institute” in Smolensk has been going on for many years.
Power engineers interact with the Institute for training, retraining and advanced training of managers and professionals, they invite students to have their practice, fill up their talent pool with graduates of the university.
NRU MPEI in Smolensk was chosen as one of the basic institutions for the training of IDGC of Center specialists. In 2011, 101 employees of Smolenskenergo improved their skills at the institute, 5 graduated and 6 continued their study in the system of professional training at “Electric Power Systems and Networks” in the training centers “Energetic” and “Expertenergo” of the university.
IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division is constantly organizing operation practice and externship for students, during which future power engineers get acquainted with the main activities of Smolenskenergo, development prospects, social benefits, power equipment, and job safety rules. Such practices are usually held on the basis of Smolensk City and Smolensk District of Electrical Networks (DEN), as well as in the Department of performance and control of technological connections and distribution networks Office of Smolenskenergo. Leading experts in the field of distribution networks management, as well as senior engineers of DEN are appointed as supervisors of operation practice and externship.
In 2011, 29 students of the Institute had their operation practice and 15 had their externship at IDGC of Centre — Smolenskenergo division. Power engineers organize tours and open doors days for students, invite them to thematic panel discussions and professional orientation seminars aimed at attracting young professionals to work at the branch.
