Kostromaenergo power engineers increased reliability of power supply of the Kostroma region jewelry center

22.02.2012

Power engineers of IDGC of Centre — Kostromaenergo division completed the reconstruction of two transformer substations (TS), which supply electricity to the center of Krasnoye-upon-Volga village, which is one of the centers of jewelry production in Russia.

Currently each of the two brick power facilities was replaced by a package two-transformer substation. Specialists constructed four modern leakproof transformers. As a result the total capacity of each TS reached 800 KVA. A complete replacement of the outdated electrical equipment was made, new switching devices and automation were also installed. Four million rubles were allocated for the reconstruction of the substations.

Constructed in the mid-XX century transformer substations that feed the regional center did not meet modern requirements, limited the possibility of economic growth. The major modernization was caused by the load growth in the district. For example, in 2011 Kostromaenergo received 233 applications for the technological connection to the grid of the division of new facilities in Krasnoye-upon-Volga village.

“Thanks to the reconstruction, the reliability of energy supply of a significant part of the settlement has significantly increased. Now, in case of one of the transformer failures, consumers can be powered from the backup one. Possibilities of technological connection to the grid of new consumers have also been widened”, — says Deputy Chief Engineer — Head of Distribution Grid Office, Alexander Chutkov.
