On 25 January,
“January 25 — a memorable milestone in the history of our native city, which put Voronezh on a par with the most persistent and heroic Russian cities. Sixty-nine years ago on this day, our city was liberated from the Nazi invaders. About 400 thousand Soviet soldiers fell in the battles in Voronezh land. On this day we pay tribute to the victims and sincerely thank all veterans for the feat,”- said to the crowd in his speech Deputy of the Voronezh City Duma Nikolay Obraztsov.
All those present paid tribute to those who fell in the battles for Voronezh with a minute of silence. Crowds with wreaths slowly marched to the memorial, accompanied by the sounds of a military band. The ceremony was completed with saluting volleys of weapons, after which the staff of Voronezhenergo, representatives of the trade union organization, the Council of Veterans and Youth Council of the branch laid a wreath at the eternal flame to the fallen in the battles Voronezh residents.
“The names of the liberators of Voronezh are forever imprinted in the names of its streets and squares. And time cannot erase from human memory the immortal feat of the soldiers, their courage and heroism. A low bow is to all veterans and workers on the home front. And the eternal memory is to those who are forever inscribed in the history of our city and our country. I warmly congratulate all the fellow countrymen with the memorable date. I believe that the military glory of Voronezh will be faithfully kept and supported with peaceful affairs and peaceful victories,”- said Chairman of the primary trade union organization of Voronezhenergo — Chairman of the regional committee of “Electric Utilities Trade Union” Evgeny Pronyaev.
