In 2011 Belgorodenergo provided the connection to the grid to over 10 000 sites in the areas of individual housing construction

In the framework of the individual housing construction program in 2011 in the settlements of the Belgorod region specialists of IDGC of Centre — Belgorodenergo division connected 4248 households to the grid and made it possible to connect 10 597 individual housing sites (individual housing construction), which exceeds the 2010 level by 2.4 times.

To ensure timely delivery of electricity of the newly constructed sites Belgorodenergo put into operation about 500 kilometers of 0.4-10 kV overhead and cable power lines. The capability to connect to the power supply networks is provided in 66 micro-districts of individual housing construction throughout the Belgorod region. The leaders in the development of individual housing construction are still Belgorod and Stary Oskol city district. Only in the neighborhood of Near Igumenka 16/3 of the Belgorod region for the electricity supply of 409 sites the power engineers constructed about 14 km of 0.4 kV overhead power lines and 5 km of 10 kV cable lines, installed two transformer substations with capacity of 250 kVA.

Modern technologies and materials are used in the construction process. Metering and distribution cabinets and kiosk type substations are installed in the new micro-districts, which are powered mainly from 35-110 kV substations with 10 kV cable lines. Consumers are fed with 0.4 kV overhead power lines with safe and reliable self-supporting insulated wire that is resistant to icing, high winds, protected from moisture and does not corrode. Due to the insulation short circuit between the phases of conductors is excluded and a high level of maintenance safety of the power lines is provided.

When laying cable lines heat shrink sleeves and cables with XLPE insulation are used. Unlike the paper-insulated cable, it is more resistant to aggressive media and high operating temperatures, is reliable when operating in overload and short circuit conditions. Through the use of new equipment at the construction of overhead and cable networks, the level of reliability of electricity supply to consumers greatly increases.
